Cox Elementary, Pasco County’s oldest elementary school, has been struggling with low performance in state exams for several years. The school is on Florida’s watch list and faces the possibility of being converted to a charter school or handed over to an education management firm. The community is fighting to keep the school locally run and want to improve student performance, particularly in math and reading.
