Governor Ron DeSantis signed Senate Bill 8, providing compensation for Marcus Button, a man injured in a 2006 school bus crash in Pasco County. Button was a passenger in a car that was hit by a bus that didn’t yield right-of-way, causing him to sustain a traumatic brain injury, vision loss, and behavior changes. The school board approved a $1.2 million settlement for Button, which was signed into law after unanimous approval from the Florida Legislature.
