Florida Governor Signs Legislation Aid Condo Owners, Falls Short In Addressing Insurance Problems

Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill to help condo owners comply with safety laws enacted after Surfside tower collapse, but the bill doesn’t include new funds for repairs. The legislation allows associations to take out lines of credit and pause reserve contributions for up to two years while making immediate repairs. DeSantis also signed another bill to extend the My Safe Florida Condominium Pilot Program, providing funds for building hardening and compliance, but many condo owners are still facing large insurance increases.
