Florida Health Care Firms Hacked, Personal Data Breached

In the last month, two more Florida health care firms have reported incidents of hacking or unauthorized access of patients’ personal data, joining a list of 35 other health care firms in the state. This potentially exposed the personal data of more than 6.7 million Florida patients, including sensitive financial and medical information. Central Florida Cares Health System was among the affected, with $3.6 million stolen from their bank account in October 2023, and Thriving Mind South Florida also reported a breach exposing personal information of 225,000 patients.
