Florida’s number of homeless residents decreased slightly from 2013 to 2017 and 2018 to 2022, according to new research. The research shows that an estimated 5.00 to 6.99 people per 10,000 population in Florida lived in shelters from 2018 to 2022. Shelter occupancy among people experiencing homelessness varied widely among states in 2023, with New York accounting for more than 50 percent of the sheltered population.
