Hurricane Helene made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane in Florida, causing several deaths and over a million power outages. The storm brought record storm surge and strong winds to much of Florida’s west coast and the Big Bend, causing flooding and destruction of numerous homes. The storm was downgraded to a tropical storm by Friday morning, but continues to deliver damaging winds and potential flooding in parts of Georgia, the Carolinas, and the southern Appalachians.
