Florida Summer Heat Lasts Longer Into Fall

Florida’s summer temperatures are causing heat stress, especially in Tampa, during fall months. The study from Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University found all cities across the state experienced more extreme heat. This is caused by the increase in sea surface temperatures due to climate change and the urban heat island effect. Tampa is experiencing an average increase in nighttime temperatures by an average of two degrees each decade.
