Florida celebrates Arbor Day earlier than most of the nation as communities work to address shrinking tree canopies caused by development and strong storms. Cities like Tampa and St. Pete are making efforts with tree-planting programs to build their canopies back up. Trees provide numerous benefits such as cooling the city and filtering rainwater.
