The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Tampa Bay, with a heat index as high as 112 degrees Fahrenheit expected. The advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., coinciding with many Fourth of July outdoor events. Several hospitals have reported an uptick in heat-related illnesses, and the CDC estimates about 1,220 people in the U.S. are killed by extreme heat each year.
