Following a record bleaching event that affected 84% of the world’s reefs since 2023, scientists at the Florida Aquarium’s coral breeding lab are nurturing 1,050 Elkhorn coral ‘babies’ in the hope of saving Florida’s coral reef from extinction. These babies, the children of parent coral colonies evacuated from offshore Florida waters, are the first chapter in a story of resilience.
