Christine Gomez, a civic education teacher at Imagine School at Land O’ Lakes, received the Teacher of the Year award. She has been teaching for 12 years and emphasizes building student confidence and relationships. Gomez started a program called TeaCHEERS, where she writes encouraging notes to her students for their achievements.
