Pasco County District 5 Commissioner Jack Mariano is pushing to lower the rent requirement for affordable housing under Florida’s Live Local Act. He argues that luxury apartment complexes are taking advantage of the tax breaks and not providing affordable housing. Two Pasco apartment complexes have filed for tax breaks under Live Local, and neither responded to a request for comment.
