The Florida Department of Health in Pasco County has advised residents of an increase in mosquito-borne disease activity in the area. Recent detection of the Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) virus in a group of emus has heightened concerns about potential transmission to humans. DOH-Pasco is working alongside Pasco County Mosquito Control to ramp up surveillance and prevention efforts. Residents and visitors are urged to take steps to protect themselves from mosquito bites.
