A new unit in New Port Richey police department, named LIFT, is expanding to aid homelessness. Sgt. Matt Patche launched the unit in summer 2023 and has grown it into a team of officers, working to help the homeless find resources and permanent housing by building trust with the community and breaking stigma. The unit’s growth is funded by National Opioids Settlement funds.
