Nonprofit Files For Bankruptcy, Alleges Founder Misappropriated Funds

A St. Petersburg nonprofit that administers trust funds for people with medical needs filed for bankruptcy after learning that about half of the $200 million in trusts it oversees are missing. The center accuses its founder, Leo Govoni, of transferring the missing funds to his own company, Boston Finance Group, using a line of credit he set up while serving as President of the center. Govoni is denying any wrongdoing and the center is working with attorneys to pursue litigation against him.
