Five students from Lacoochee Elementary School, one of the district’s smallest and poorest schools, qualified for the international Odyssey of the Mind competition after winning first place in Florida. The team, which had only two returning members, faced a financial obstacle due to the high cost of travel, but managed to secure donations to fund their trip. The win has become a major pride point for the school and has inspired students to strive for bigger aspirations.
