Pasco County Mosquito Control’s Budget Deficit

Pasco County Mosquito Control projected an $18.5 million budget deficit. The error was so egregious that the state ordered part of its tax revenue to be cut off for two months. The agency sent warning letters to Rogers in 2021 and 2022 for problems with their tax notices and the warning that if it continued to have problems, it could have tax money withheld. The agency also sent a new public hearing notice to the state nearly three weeks after a Sept. 30 deadline to submit its budget.
