Pasco County Tries New Technique To Combat Mosquito Borne Illness

The Pasco County Mosquito Control District is launching a new technique called the Sterile Insect Technique to fight mosquito-borne illness. The technique targets the aedes aegypti mosquito and releases sterilized male mosquitoes into the wild to mate with local females. The eggs they produce will not hatch, and over time, the population decreases, reducing the risk of mosquito-borne illness.
