The Patel Foundation for Global Understanding won approval to bring a new charter high school to south-central Pasco County despite community concerns about overcrowding in other schools. The board had no statutory reason for denial, but vice chairperson Alison Crumbley attempted to derail the application due to concerns about admitting Hillsborough County students and the proposed location.
