Port Richey Faces $3 Million Debt For Hurricane Cleanup

Port Richey, Florida, is struggling with a $3 million bill for cleanup work after back-to-back hurricanes. City Manager Matthew Coppler mentioned that cleanup crews are working seven days a week, but the city is not meeting its self-imposed 45-day deadline. Council member Linda Rodriguez explained that the city has picked up 5,000 cubic yards of debris, a small fraction of the estimated 50,000 cubic tons, and is using both a contractor and city trucks. FEMA has only reimbursed $60,000 of the expected $96,000, and the city has applied for an expedited plan to receive 50% of the cost upfront.
