River Ridge Schools Closed Due To Smoke From Controlled Burn

River Ridge High School and Middle School in Pasco County, Florida were closed on Wednesday due to excessive smoke from a controlled burn at Starkey Park. The smoke entered classrooms and gym, causing cancelation of all classes and activities. The district notified parents via text, call, and email. The school district and SWFMD apologized for the school closures and stated that controlled burns are critical to prevent uncontrolled wildfires.
