62-year-old studio executive Steve Mensch died in a plane crash in Citrus County, Florida. The plane, a single-engine Vans RV-12IS registered to Mensch’s home in Atlanta, crashed near the intersection of U.S. 98 in the Homosassa area. Mensch joined Tyler Perry Studios in 2016 and oversaw the conversion of the company’s film and TV production lot in Atlanta, one of the largest in the U.S. He was known for his work advocating for Georgia’s film tax credit.
