The Increased Frequency And Intensity Of Tornadoes In The United States

Tornadoes in the US have been increasing in frequency and intensity due to changing weather patterns. In 2023, EF2+ tornadoes accounted for 90% of tornado-related fatalities, injuries, and damage, despite making up less than 13% of all tornadoes. Over the past 20 years, high-intensity tornadoes have spread into the Southeast and Midwest regions. Some states have experienced significant increases in high-intensity tornado occurrences.
