Donald Trump issued a series of pardons to more than 1,500 individuals, who were involved in the storming of the US Capitol on Jan 6, 2021. The order included several individuals from Florida and was granted for those who had pleaded guilty or were convicted of any crimes related to the assault. This action comes months after Trump had promised pardons to supporters who took part in the riot. Trump’s order did not differentiate between rioters based on their actions, such as assaulting police officers or committing other serious crimes.
