A convenience store clerk in Port Richey is facing seventeen charges after investigators discovered he stole scratch-off lottery tickets and cashed them in. Jason Irwin, who worked at the Rebel #802 store, used a store-issued key to access a secured storage area during a shift on May 20. He took tickets from the Gold Rush Multiplier game without paying for them and later redeemed them at several stores in Hudson. The Florida Lottery confirmed that Irwin never paid for the tickets he stole. He was charged with one count of grand theft, eight counts of dealing in stolen property, and eight counts of unlawful use of a two-way communication device. The case began when the retailer reported suspected internal theft to the lottery’s Division of Security, which investigated alongside store management.
