Residents and drivers in Trinity, Florida are expressing frustration over a lack of progress on installing a traffic light at the intersection of State Road 54 and Mitchell Ranch Road. Despite plans announced by the Florida Department of Transportation last year, construction has not begun even as significant new development increases traffic volume in the area. Debi Hasson, who works at a nearby medical office, describes the daily struggle to exit her complex due to heavy congestion and inability to turn left or right safely. The curved road design further complicates visibility for drivers during peak hours, contributing to safety concerns. Since July 2022, the Florida Highway Patrol has recorded 129 crashes at this intersection, underscoring the urgent need for improved traffic management. Both FDOT and Pasco County acknowledge that while there is still discussion regarding the design of the proposed traffic signal, no immediate work is scheduled to begin.
