Florida Highway Patrol investigators have upgraded charges against Logan Richard Pineda, 24, of Hudson, in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash on Feb. 19. Pineda, who initially faced a felony charge of leaving the scene of a crash involving a death, now faces second-degree murder charges after returning to authorities and being taken into custody. The crash occurred on Parkwood Street when a Tesla Model Y struck a bicyclist, a 52-year-old Tampa woman, who later died from her injuries. Investigators confirmed Pineda’s identity as the driver and cited additional evidence supporting the murder charge.
