Freedom Boat Club Memberships Double as Travelers Seek Local Alternatives to Expensive Trips

Freedom Boat Club in New Port Richey is experiencing growing membership as travelers seek local alternatives to expensive trips. The club, founded in Sarasota, has doubled its locations since 2019 and now operates 32 sites throughout Tampa Bay with over 700 boats available to members. General Manager Les Ares attributes the growth to rising travel costs and airport congestion, offering what he calls a “stay‑cation” experience. Members pay for access without the responsibilities of boat ownership, including maintenance, fuel, and cleaning. Visitors from Orlando like Evan Post say the club provides an affordable vacation option without long drives or high gas costs. Ares expects the summer season to be particularly busy as more people seek water‑based recreation.
