Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed a bill authorizing a payment of $1 million to Marcus Button, who was 16 when he was injured in a Pasco County school bus accident in 2006. The bill resolves a 20-year-long issue stemming from a state law capping the amount of money Pasco schools had to pay. Button’s medical bills from the accident totaled over $1 million, and his mother, Robin, plans to work with a financial adviser to invest the settlement.
