After weeks of public protest and pleading, the roughly 200-year-old live oak near the historic Dade City courthouse has been saved. County Administrator Mike Carballa announced the tree will remain as long as it passes biannual checkups. A new maintenance plan will be implemented to protect both the tree and surrounding property.
