Local Captains Report Strong Fishing Action Across Pasco County Waters This Week

Local fishing captains in Pasco County report excellent conditions for various species throughout the region. Captain Cody Albright has been successful with snook, redfish, trout, tarpon, and mangrove snapper using live sardines during outgoing tides. The Cotee and Anclote rivers have produced numerous catches including slot-sized snook and tarpons up to 30 pounds. Offshore action remains strong with schools of redfish appearing in Gulf shallows near mangroves. Shallow-water gag grouper fishing is expected to be productive when the season opens on September 1st. Some captains are also working scallop grounds in Hernando County where Pasco waters were temporarily closed due to water quality concerns.
