Low Pressure System May Bring Rain To Southeast Coast Early Next Week

An area of low pressure has formed offshore of northern Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina according to the National Hurricane Center. Meteorologists predict a twenty percent chance this system will develop into Tropical Storm Bertha, though most experts believe it will primarily bring heavy rainfall rather than significant storm activity. Experts advise residents not to cancel weekend plans yet but to monitor developments closely as the system moves northeast. While flash flooding is possible particularly in the Tampa Bay area with rainfall totals potentially reaching six to seven inches, severe weather including brief tornadoes may occur along certain corridors like Interstate Four. The system faces challenges strengthening due to its limited time over open water before moving into landfall conditions. Meanwhile another weak tropical wave thousands of miles away in the Atlantic Ocean shows minimal potential for development over the coming week.
