A 28-year-old man was cited for careless driving after his vehicle struck a Pasco County deputy’s patrol SUV and another car during a traffic stop. The incident occurred around 10:22 p.m. on Friday evening near Ballantrae Boulevard on State Road 54 in Pasco County, Florida. Deputy Christopher Scott Wojtas was operating the marked Ford Explorer when Omar Antonio Malave failed to slow down or move over as required by Florida law. Malave’s Jeep Compass collided with the patrol vehicle, pushing it into a grassy median and over traffic signs, while also hitting an Audi driven by an 18-year-old passenger. Despite significant damage to multiple vehicles, no serious injuries were reported in the crash. The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that Malave received charges for careless driving as a result of this incident.
