A man shot a woman and a deputy during a land-clearing dispute in New Port Richey, Florida. Sheriff Chris Nocco confirmed the incident occurred on Monday afternoon near Davista Avenue and Sawtell Street. Aaron Rodriguez, 32, approached the couple, leading to an argument. Rodriguez shot the man while he was on the phone with 911, killing him at the scene. The suspect also wounded the woman before fleeing to his garage. Deputies ordered him to drop his weapon, but he shot a K-9 handler before being shot by officers. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is leading the investigation. The K-9 handler is expected to recover, while the woman and suspect’s conditions remain undisclosed.
