Metropolitan Ministries is celebrating the first anniversary of its expanded West Pasco County campus, which has provided housing and support services to over one hundred families experiencing homelessness. The Holiday campus offers temporary housing along with food assistance, counseling, job training, and after-school care for children to help residents achieve long-term stability. Tiffany Colon-Gascot, a mother of four who struggled after leaving an abusive marriage, found hope through the organization after spending three months living in a van. Through the residential program, she received stable housing and after-school support that allowed her to focus on her job and regain financial independence. Executive director Ryan Pratt reported that ninety-five percent of participants who stay in the program for twelve months or longer do not return to homelessness. Colon-Gascot now looks forward to celebrating holidays with her children and hopes her story will encourage others to seek assistance at Metropolitan Ministries.
