Sierra Family YMCA is a two-story building covering 49,319 square feet and includes an aquatic center with multiple pools, gymnasium, and wellness areas. This new facility is expected to serve over 40,000 households and create more than 300 jobs in the growing community. The land for the YMCA was leased from BayCare Health System, which operates a hospital next door to the facility. Tampa YMCA President Matt Mitchell stated that the project took six years to complete and already has over 6,300 members signed up before opening. Local residents like Horning are excited about having convenient access to child care, fitness programs, and sports activities within minutes of their homes. The YMCA aims to provide comprehensive wellness services and community support for children, seniors, and families in East Pasco County.
