Pasco County School District Proposes Merging Underused Schools Into K-8 Campus

Pasco County school district plans to merge two underused schools, Gulfside Elementary and Paul R. Smith Middle, into a single K-8 campus for fall 2026 due to low enrollment. The combined schools will fill about 90% of the Paul R. Smith classroom seats, with no decision yet about Gulfside. The merger is part of the district’s efforts to deal with enrollment declines throughout west Pasco and save tax dollars.
