Pasco County Schools has initiated a new initiative titled Beyond the Game in collaboration with the Tampa Bay Lightning. This program recognizes coaches who demonstrate exceptional dedication to their students across various sports disciplines. The partnership builds upon existing initiatives that have introduced street hockey programs and provided official physical education credits through hockey activities. Toni Zetzsche, chief impact officer at Pasco County Schools, emphasized how such partnerships strengthen community ties and highlight the importance of schools in local communities. Over 300 nominations have already been received for this inaugural recognition program. The first three coaches will be honored during an upcoming school board meeting on Tuesday evening. Each honoree will receive a hockey stick as part of their award package. Additionally, selected coaches may receive special recognition at Tampa Bay Lightning home games throughout the season.
