Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco has announced his resignation effective in November to run for the Florida State Senate District 21 seat. The opening was created when State Sen. Ed Hooper announced his resignation. Nocco, who was appointed sheriff by Gov. Rick Scott in 2011 and has been re-elected four times, stated he wants to continue serving the community at the state level. He emphasized his 15 years of experience keeping the community safe and building regional partnerships as preparation for the Senate role.
