Pasco County has announced a significant delay to the Ridge Road extension project in Land O Lakes. Phase 2 of this infrastructure initiative, which covers a 3.75-mile stretch from North Sunlake Boulevard to U.S. 41, will now open in early summer 2027 instead of the previously anticipated timeline. Transportation officials attribute this postponement to complications with constructing a railroad bridge over the CSX Railroad line that runs parallel to the road. The project is expected to add two lanes by summer 2027, with all four lanes completing by early 2028. Beyond the roadway improvements, Phase 2 will include new sidewalks, bike lanes, multiuse paths, and essential water infrastructure. This marks the second major extension of Ridge Road, following a first phase completed in 2021 that served growing residential and commercial areas.
