A two-thirds-scale replica of Rotary founder Paul Harris’ Chicago home was dedicated at Pasco’s Safety Town after a five-year project delayed by the pandemic. The miniature structure, designed for young children, teaches the value of volunteering alongside other scaled-down buildings in the safety education attraction. Katie McQuillan, president of the Rotary Club of Trinity, stated that showing children the importance of volunteer work is a blessing to the world. The $40,000 project was funded through grants from the Rotary district and contributions from various clubs and public donations. Architect Troy Willingham designed the model for free using historical documents to ensure accuracy while scaling it appropriately for kids. Safety Town, now overseen by Pasco County Fire Rescue, educates students on various safety topics including pedestrian safety and emergency procedures. The Concourse park where Safety Town is located hosts numerous community events throughout the year.
