Tampa Man and Sister Indicted for Bomb Plot at Air Base

Federal prosecutors have indicted a Tampa man and his sister for allegedly planting an explosive device at MacDill Air Force Base. Alen Zheng, 20, and his sister Ann Mary Zheng, 27, are accused of placing an improvised explosive device near the base’s Visitor’s Center on March 10, which failed to detonate. Authorities linked the device to a phone purchased at Best Buy, tracked via its IMEI number. The siblings fled to China after the incident, with Ann Mary Zheng returning to the U.S. and being detained. Alen Zheng remains overseas facing multiple charges, while the investigation continues to uncover motives and secure his extradition.
