A Zephyrhills man was killed early Saturday morning when his car was crushed by a semi-truck in Davenport, Florida. The crash occurred around 6 a.m. on January 31 at the intersection of Deen Still Road and Wheeler Road. A 21-year-old Georgia driver attempted to turn westbound after exiting a sand mine, causing a Freightliner semi-truck to stretch across the roadway. A 2018 Nissan Sentra struck the trailer, crushing the car and killing its 61-year-old driver. The roadway was closed for four hours during the investigation.
