Two‑Engine Plane Crashes Into Home in Grand Oaks Subdivision Early Morning

A two‑engine aircraft departed from Tampa North Aero Park and remained airborne for less than a minute before crashing into a residence on Aldus Drive in the Grand Oaks subdivision around 8:30 a.m. The pilot, whose identity has not been released, was the sole occupant. The impact produced a loud thud that shook the house, awakening resident Brandon Smith, who reported hearing his mother shout about a fire and urge evacuation. Paso County Fire Rescue extinguished the blaze, which also caused damage to the home. Smith described the scene as feeling like a movie and said he is still processing the event. The National Transportation Safety Board will lead the investigation, assisted by the Federal Aviation Administration. No injuries have been reported, and authorities continue to gather information.
