Volunteers Repair Hurricane-Damaged Home Two Years After Storms Hit Florida

Volunteers gathered in Tarpon Springs to repair a home that remains affected by damage from Hurricanes Helene and Milton two years after the storms struck Florida. The rebuilding project was organized by Strongward, a disaster recovery nonprofit formerly known as SBP, as part of an event recognizing the second anniversary of the 2024 hurricanes. Volunteers arrived at the property October 1st to perform repairs and help the homeowner continue the recovery process. The work was part of broader efforts to assist Tampa Bay families still dealing with storm damage. Strongward scheduled the project from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and provided volunteers with tools, safety equipment and instructions. Previous construction experience was not required to participate.
