AdventHealth initiated construction on a new freestanding emergency department in New Port Richey on April 10, 2024, to enhance emergency care accessibility in western Pasco County. The facility at 6523 State Road 54 will span over 13,000 square feet and include 12 patient beds, on-site X-ray and CT imaging, a portable ultrasound, a dedicated lab, three treatment bays, and a triage room, with an anticipated opening in 2027 and the creation of approximately 35 jobs. Andrew Santos, president and CEO of AdventHealth North Pinellas, emphasized the growing demand for emergency services in the expanding West Pasco County area. State Senator Ed Hooper described the project as a significant investment in both community health and economic development, noting its benefits for first responders and reduced patient travel time in regions with limited emergency care options. The facility’s design is being handled by HuntonBrady Architects, while Batson-Cook Construction oversees the construction. Additional community updates include Wheelchairs 4 Kids partnering with Bath Fitter to install a wheelchair-accessible shower for a child with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, Morton Plant North Bay Hospital’s internal medicine residents winning the American College of Physicians Florida Chapter Competition, Pasco County’s annual Disaster Preparedness Expo on May 2, the 31st annual Earth Day celebration at Crews Lake Wilderness Park on April 25, the Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office raising $6,000 for Special Olympics Florida of Pasco, and the distribution of free trees for Arbor Day on April 25 at three local parks.
