Elderly Man Dies After Tesla Autopilot Accident in Wesley Chapel

An 87-year-old man from Wesley Chapel, Florida died following a tragic accident involving his Tesla Model Y on Tuesday night. The vehicle was operating in autopilot mode when it veered off Overpass Road and struck an electrical box before becoming submerged in a nearby pond. The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed the incident occurred just after 8 p.m., east of Infinite Drive. Emergency responders transported the victim to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. A 75-year-old female passenger was also taken to the hospital but sustained only non-life-threatening injuries from the crash. This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding autonomous vehicle safety and the potential risks associated with autopilot technology in various driving conditions.
