A devastating fire in New Port Richey destroyed a home on Wednesday, displacing six residents and tragically killing a family dog. Pasco County Fire Rescue crews responded to the scene at 4000 block of Grouper Lane where heavy flames and smoke were engulfing the property. Despite their rapid efforts, firefighters could not save the structure which was declared a total loss. The blaze was determined to be accidental, originating from a lithium-ion battery that had been recently purchased for an e-bike. An occupant discovered the battery venting after charging it, but before they could address the issue, the fire spread rapidly through the home.
