Florida Governor Endorses Pasco Sheriff for Senate Seat Amid Resignation Plans

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has endorsed Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco for the Senate District 21 position, praising him as a strong conservative voice in the state legislature. The endorsement was announced on social media following a joint press conference between the governor and sheriff regarding property taxes in Land O Lakes. Sheriff Nocco, who has served for fifteen years, recently declared his intention to resign from his current position to run for the senate seat currently held by retiring Ed Hooper. Due to Nocco’s early departure before his term concludes, Governor DeSantis will appoint a new Pasco County sheriff rather than allowing voters to select one through an election. Despite this transition, Nocco plans to continue serving as sheriff until November when the midterm elections are scheduled to take place.
