Metro Development Group has broken ground on Sunrise Hills, a massive 1,100-acre planned community in Hernando County. This development is expected to create nearly 4,000 homes along with a 2.5-acre lagoon and extensive trail systems. The community will be situated near the Sherman Hills Golf Course and the Withlacoochee State Trail, with convenient access to Interstate 75. Three national homebuilders including DRB Homes, D.R. Horton, and Lennar will be involved in the construction. The design incorporates local character elements, such as a silo-style monument inspired by the Brooksville Silo Project. This project represents the second major community development by Metro in Hernando County, following their Sandal Key project.
